IDS12: blogger learnings & networking
The events and activities that are a part of or held alongside Toronto’s Interior Design Show always provide ample opportunity for networking and learning – this year providing a one-two punch for building blogging relationships. While wandering the IDS 12 show floor during the Opening Night Gala provided a warm-up to the weekend, two design-blogger-specific events held last weekend ramped up the relationship building and blogging knowledge.
BlogPodium, founded in the Fall of 2011 by Jennifer Flores of Rambling Renovators and Lindsay Stephenson of Little House Blog, is Canada’s first conference marketed towards design bloggers with a mandate to provide educational, business, and inspirational direction from experts, a venue to connect with fellow bloggers, and to engage companies that support us. BlogPodium’s first event, Blogs & Media, was hosted by IDS12 on Trade Day and registration was sold out within two weeks. The event was a success, and confirmed that Canada needed its own conference for design bloggers. It was a great session at which I took many notes on how to blog better and make connections for greater exposure. I look forward to attending the next session in May 2012 on The Business of Blogging.
Lindsay introduces the panel…and Shauna Levy, VP MMPI Canada and Director IDS.
Moderator Leigh-Anne Allaire interacts with the panel: (l to r) Jennifer Flores – Rambling Renovators, Kimberley Seldon – Dabble Magazine, Kate Moore – CityLine, and Margot Austin – House and Home Magazine.
This meetup just keeps getting better and better. The third so far and again organized by Vie of Verdigris Vie and Daniella of Dress, Design, Decor, this event continues to impress all who attend. From the fabulous sponsors House and Home Magazine, Ikea, Delta Faucets, Kleenex Cottonelle, CIL Paints, Gluckstein Home, and Aya Kitchens & Baths and friends Rowenta, Kravet, and CB2, to the lineup of speakers who included House and Home’s Cameron MacNeil (Senior Design Editor) and Lisa Murphy (Online Director), Cassandra LaValle of coco+kelley, and a surprise talk by Brian Gluckstein…
…the opportunity to network with and put faces to bloggers we often feel we know so well even before meeting in person caps off a not-to-miss event. Be sure to check out the blogs of all the talented bloggers in attendance.
