designing ladies’ night out

March 11

This past Thursday was the 2012 edition of International Women’s Day. Although I wish we lived in a world where we needn’t set aside a specific day to internationally celebrate women, if it serves as an excuse for a fun night out, then I’m all for it. And a fun night it was!

The Fourth Annual Ladies’ Night hosted by Lifford Wine Agency and Kravet Canada offered guests an evening filled with fine wine, great food, home décor ideas and the opportunity to meet some of Canada’s leading design authorities in the inspirational setting of Kravet’s showroom at Toronto’s Designers’ Walk. A silent auction and raffle featured a variety of fabulous items in the aim to help raise funds to improve the lives of women in poverty, with all event proceeds going to The Canadian Women’s Foundation.

And although this was a night to celebrate women, gentlemen were most definitely welcomed, including Massimo Capra, celebrity chef of TV as well as Toronto’s Mistura and Sopra restaurants. Not only were his canapés delicious, but so were his passionate descriptions about his creations.

It was also lovely to connect again with Tommy Smythe (having met him at the Canadian Design Bloggers meetup this past June) and to introduce myself to Sarah Richardson. We had a great chat about one of the projects they did for an upcoming episode of the new season of Sarah 101, as I have a personal connection with the homeowners (stay tuned for a post with an insider perspective on this wonderful project!).

Yours truly with Sarah Richardson.
