retro spotted: vintage gardening graphic design
I am enchanted by vintage and retro fonts and graphic design, so I just had to snap some photos of these wonderful, of-another-era nursery and garden catalogue / magazine covers on display at Canada Blooms last week. So charming!
I am such a sucker for vintage typography. They definitely don’t design things like they used to, text used to have so much more character and charm than today’s minimalistic styles.
Absolutely, there’s nothing like a retro font. So elegant and to the point.
How neat! This is wonderful as I’m just starting our seedlings today with my kids!
It’s exciting to know that we’re at that time of year again. Spring is just a couple of weeks away – yay!
What a stunning poster! I absolutely love the design and the garden included in the picture. I wish modern day advertisements used such elegant fonts!
Agreed!
I’m also font crazy. I could spend hours on Pinterest looking at fonts. My boyfriend always makes fun of me because when we go to restaurants I always comment on menu fonts ha. Great find!
I hear ya’! A kindred spirit. 🙂
I love the design. I was putting together a list of resources of free images and was surprised to find out about how really old stuff is no longer copyright protected. But was more amazed by the intricate drawings in even casual books back then. I remember a children’s book, but the black and white garden was practically a work of art!
Oh this book looks absolutely up my alley! I’ve got to get my paws on this one!
Fair warning…mine has now gone into hiding. Ha!
Beautiful! I love these vintage posters for interior decor.
Agreed!
What an amazing find – I love vintage books!
WOW these are so cool! I wish we had more artwork in magazines and catalogues these days!
Agreed!
Oh, i love these so much they would look so cool in frames wouldn’t they. Love hand drawn designs
They would indeed!
We have some very similar that my husbands nan had collected, they were too beautiful to throw away when we cleared out her house.
